SUMMARY
Reflection
In my home town of Henderson, there had not been a year round men’s homeless shelter, there was only a seasonal one for the winter months. Community Partners of Hope is working to make the year round men’s shelter a reality. They are hoping to be able to serve more people if needed and they also support a men’s transition house, called Hope House. By helping package these kits, Mrs. King, a board member at Community Partners of Hope, said this was something that they were in current need of and this helped fulfill that need. I am going to discuss with my new Head of School and the new Student Government Association advisor to see if we can partner with Community Partners of Hope in the years to come.
Project Impact
I donated over 300 storage bags, some of those bags were used with supplies they already had to create dozens of toiletry kits.
PROJECTS TASKS

Page Week
10.00 hours participating in an awareness event | Curiosity
This activity included us, as a group, going into the vault of the North Carolina State Library. In the library, included in the photo, we were able to look at historic documents, such as the original charter for Carolina, written in the 1600s.

Project Planning
0.50 hours doing outreach | Connectedness
I contacted board member at Community Partners of Hope to set up date for project completion and to find out what supplies I would need to provide for the project.

Publicity
0.50 hours leading an event | Connectedness
I got in contact once again with the same board member from Community Partners of Hope to confirm the date for project completion. I also got in contact with the members of my senior class and presented this opportunity and asked if anyone would like to help in the completion of my project.

Do the Project
2.00 hours leading an event | Compassion
The board member, a classmate, my mother, and I gathered needed supplies, disassembled some incorrect kits, packaged new toiletry kits, which included items like deodorant, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other miscellaneous hygiene products. We also discussed making this project a part of the Student Government Association of Kerr-Vance Academy in the coming years. This will need to be approved by the new Head of School at Kerr-Vance Academy and the new Student Government Association advisor. I will present this to them once school starts.
