    SUMMARY
    Reflection
Reflecting on my experience organizing the clothing donation booth at the Northwest Cary YMCA Vendor Fair, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the power of community action and the importance of raising awareness for meaningful causes. From planning the event to interacting with donors, I learned the value of effective communication, organization, and the ability to adapt to challenges on the spot. The process taught me how crucial it is to not only gather resources but to also educate and engage with the community, making them feel a part of the cause. The most rewarding part was seeing how a simple act like donating clothes could be connected to something as significant as Alzheimer's research. This project reinforced my belief that with determination and a clear goal, even small efforts can lead to substantial positive outcomes.
    Project Impact
The project successfully collected a total of ten bags of clothing donations, which will be turned into funding by Guardian Angel Thrift, with 80% of the proceeds directly supporting Alzheimer's research. The booth reached dozens of attendees, providing them with information about Alzheimer's disease and how their contributions could make a difference. This event not only resulted in tangible donations but also significantly raised awareness within the community about the ongoing fight against Alzheimer’s. Through these efforts, the project has made a meaningful impact by contributing resources to vital research and fostering greater community involvement in the cause.
    PROJECTS TASKS
    Page Week
10.00 hours participating in an awareness event | Connectedness
During the week, I got an in-depth view of the state government. Based out of the Governor's Office, I toured government buildings including the Legislative Building, the State Capitol, and the State Archives. In addition to the tours, I met with government officials who discussed how state government works and how it impacts the lives of North Carolinians. Alongside these meetings, I had the opportunity to develop a policy proposal which I presented to policy officials and my peers.

To successfully execute a clothing donation booth at the Northwest Cary YMCA Vendor Fair, I first defined my goal: to collect clothing donations for Guardian Angel Thrift, which supports Alzheimer's research with 80% of its funds donated towards the cause. I then broke down the tasks necessary to achieve this goal, including logistics and coordination. The community partner, Guardian Angel Thrift, will receive the donated clothes, and the event will be held at the Northwest Cary YMCA Vendor Fair, with permission already granted. The equipment needed includes one table, one chair, and bins for the clothes, all of which will be provided without the need for additional funding. Promotion of the event involves posting flyers around the YMCA to raise awareness. The day before the event, I will create signs for the booth, and on the event day, I will set up the booth, manage registration, and ensure everything runs smoothly, including cleanup afterward. No significant safety concerns were identified. The project timeline includes finalizing the plan in advance, promoting the event prior, and confirming logistics two days before. On the day of the event, I will execute the plan and review the outcomes afterward. The budget is minimal, as the necessary equipment will be provided or borrowed. Responsibilities for event coordination, promotion, and logistics will be managed by me, with Guardian Angel Thrift as the partnering organization.
    Clothes To Care Donation Drive
10.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
During the event at the Northwest Cary YMCA Vendor Fair, I sat behind my booth, warmly welcoming attendees and collecting clothing donations for Guardian Angel Thrift. As people approached, I took the opportunity to educate them about Alzheimer's disease and the critical role their donations would play in supporting Alzheimer's research, as 80% of the funds raised by Guardian Angel Thrift go towards this cause. I explained how each contribution, no matter how small, could make a significant difference in advancing research and providing support for those affected by Alzheimer's. Throughout the day, I engaged with numerous individuals, answering their questions, sharing information about Guardian Angel Thrift, and encouraging more donations. My efforts not only helped gather a substantial amount of clothing but also raised awareness about Alzheimer's disease and the importance of community support in fighting it.
    Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Compassion
Reflecting on the clothing donation booth at the Northwest Cary YMCA Vendor Fair, I am pleased to report that the event was a success in achieving our goals. The primary objective was to collect clothing donations for Guardian Angel Thrift, thereby supporting Alzheimer's disease research, and we managed to gather ten bags of donated clothes. This accomplishment not only provided tangible contributions but also translated into funding for Alzheimer's research, advancing the mission of Guardian Angel Thrift. Engaging with attendees, I educated them about Alzheimer's disease and the impact their donations would have. This interaction helped raise awareness and fostered a sense of community involvement in the fight against Alzheimer's. The positive feedback from participants indicated that they felt more informed and motivated to support the cause. The successful collection of ten bags of clothing donations is a clear indicator of progress and impact. Each bag represents a step towards funding crucial research and support for those affected by Alzheimer's. The event not only met but exceeded expectations in terms of community participation and awareness. By reflecting on the event and gathering feedback from participants, I can confidently say that the project was impactful. The collected donations will significantly contribute to Alzheimer's research, making a real difference in the lives of those affected by the disease. This project has reinforced the importance of community involvement and the positive outcomes that can be achieved through collective efforts.
