Shell Hebert Career & Technical Academy (SHCTA) is a nonprofit, private career and technical academy dedicated to expanding equitable access to education and workforce pathways for youth and adults, with a strong focus on students who are underserved, neurodivergent, or face barriers to traditional educational systems. SHCTA was founded to address persistent opportunity gaps by providing flexible, supportive, and career-aligned education that meets students where they are academically, socially, and emotionally. Our hybrid and online instructional model integrates academic coursework, career and technical training, life skills development, and workforce readiness, allowing students to progress at an individualized pace while receiving consistent structure and support. A core part of SHCTA’s mission is serving students with special needs, including neurodivergent learners and those with behavioral, mental health, or learning challenges. We prioritize trauma-informed practices, small learning environments, clear expectations, and individualized support strategies to promote engagement, confidence, and long-term success. Our programs emphasize strengths-based learning, self-advocacy, and practical skill development aligned with real-world employment opportunities. Beyond academics, SHCTA provides comprehensive wraparound services, including career exploration, resume and interview preparation, financial literacy education, and connections to community-based resources. Through partnerships with local employers, workforce agencies, and community organizations, students gain exposure to internships, paid work experiences, and employment pathways that lead to economic mobility. Rooted in equity, access, and dignity, Shell Hebert Career & Technical Academy is committed to preparing students—particularly those historically excluded from opportunity—to achieve academic success, meaningful employment, and sustainable independence while strengthening the communities they serve.
