The Hunger Center creates and nurtures a community of innovative and inspiring leaders who act as change agents, bridging the gap between grassroots efforts and national and international policy to provide access to nutrition, affordable and culturally appropriate food. Our Leadership Capabilities Model serves as the foundation for our leadership development programs and projects. The core capabilities of a leader fall into three distinct, but interrelated, categories that build on and reinforce one another: Develop Self, Lead with Others, and Create Change. A leader must first be able to effectively lead themselves. Only with this foundation can they then move to successfully leading a team of others. Finally, we believe an effective leader uses their capabilities to create change in the service of ending hunger and poverty.
