    SUMMARY
    Reflection
This experience was incredibly valuable, allowing me to further strengthen both my organizational and communication skills. In addition to managing the event, I also spoke multiple times throughout the evening. While I am generally comfortable with public speaking, it added an extra layer of pressure on the day of the event. Coordinating with various candidates highlighted the importance of clear and concise communication, a lesson that will benefit me in future endeavors. I was fortunate to receive strong community support and encouragement in the lead-up to the forum, which made the process even more meaningful. Above all, this event reinforced the importance of voter education—particularly in municipal elections, which often receive less public attention. It also provided my volunteers and me with a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference within our community.
    Project Impact
During our Mayoral Forum on September 17, 2025 we had 2 mayoral candidates answering questions and sharing their platforms. There were 6 city council candidates in our lobby campaigning, accompanied by one candidate for a district court judge. We had voter registration booths in the lobby. Our turnout for the mayoral forum was around 200 community members and 30 Student government representatives. We had 10 voter registrations and 15 party affiliation changes. Aside from the numbers, this got our community talking about the upcoming municipal election and ignited a spark of political interest in our small town. I’m very fortunate to have had the opportunity to plan this event and had it be successful.
    PROJECTS TASKS
    Page Week
    10.00 hours volunteering | Connectedness
I spent the week meeting with various state employees to learn about their jobs and the impact they make. I also completed various tasks such as filing and shredding paperwork in multiple departments. However, the highllight of the week was meeting the governor and the tours of government buildings.
    Project Planning
8.00 hours leading an initiative | Connectedness
I enlisted the help of my fellow Student Government members to hold a Mayoral forum for our upcoming Municipal elections. I coordinated with our incumbent mayor and our other mayoral candidate for the event providing them with questions, drafting introductions, and time management. We allowed those running for City Council to campagain in the lobby of our event; so I informed them of requirements to partcipate. I also was in contact with our Director of the Board of Elections to allow for voter registration at the event. I oversaw the other Student Government members; assigning them jobs and answering questions.
    Publicity
3.00 hours doing outreach | Curiosity
I, along with other Student Government members partcipated in an interview with our local newspaper to inform the public of the Mayoral Forum. I also created posts to go on our Student Government and school Instagram page. Our student government members informed the community of the event by word of mouth; we even had some post on FaceBook!
    Do the Project
6.00 hours leading an initiative | Connectedness
The day of the mayoral forum I coordinated the organization of the stage and our lobby area. The Mayoral forum was our main event; with candidates receiving 13 questions asked by our Student Government members. I oversaw the distribution and organization of questions, management of the candidates speaking time, and our MC for the night. I also managed our news outlets present, other elected officials campaigning, and voter registration in the lobby of our event. Overall, the forum went very well and I have received great feedback from our community!
    Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Integrity
I believe my team and I were very successful in our goals. They were simple in that we wanted to provide information on candidates in our Municipal elections. We had a large turnout of Student government members, community members, and news outlets. We have received very little negative feedback; the only thing we have heard is people would have liked paper flyers at local restaurants to inform them of the event due to limited online presence. I call this event an overall success and I'm happy I got to contribute to the voter education in my community!
