SUMMARY
Reflection
I reflect on what I desire to be, and this is my conclusion: My great grandfather, English E. Jones, the first Native American Chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, once said, “The Lord took the cotton bag off my back and put me where I am today.” At age 10, my great-grandfather began attending school in Dillon, South Carolina, because that was the only school where Native American youth could go in his area. He walked 2 miles daily to and from school because his parents knew how important education was for the life of native people. My great-grandfather’s dedication transformed how people viewed equal access to education for native people. His belief in God and commitment to life-long learning instilled in me the strength and desire to continue his legacy and encourage all people to go beyond their limits. Education grants us opportunities and gives us faith to grow like mustard seeds. Education provides us with the confidence to shout at the barriers we face and say, MOVE, and they will move, and nothing will be impossible. I aspire to excel academically and personally, with the ultimate goal of pursuing a career in healthcare. Working hard and using role models like my great-grandfather gave me the education and resources necessary to achieve these dreams and give back to my Native American community. NCSSM’s dedication and specialty in math and science, along with its outstanding academic reputation and dedicated instructors, will prepare me for my future endeavors. Additionally, NCSSM allows me to participate in extracurricular activities that I enjoy, providing a balanced preparation for college and adulthood. I aspire to be an inspiration to show all Natives and other minorities they can overcome any barrier they may face. My goal is to become one of the first female Native American specialist healthcare providers in the country. My goal is to support my community and advocate for all Native Americans and minorities, ensuring they have access to the best possible healthcare. This effort is not just for their benefit but also for the well-being of future generations.
Project Impact
I have visited many schools with over 100 +hours working either at pow wows or cultural presentations. It is important for me to share my important attributes of higher education in the Native American community. If I had to give a number on how many people attended my Cultural Presentations it was 25-50 or more students, staff and faculty.
PROJECTS TASKS

Page Week
10.00 hours learning about service to others | Curiosity
My time at the Govenors Page was inspirational. I attended the week that was for Native Students, and I was able to meet not only Native Students throughout the state, but Mrs. Pam Cashwell who is a Native American in the Governor Cabinet. It was inspirational to see the monumental events that are leading up to a bright future for Native Americans, because these events give and provide hope, and that is because of the trailblazers in history today.

Project Planning
4.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
Meet with PSRC Indian Education to discuss ways that the Lumbee Ambassadors can attend the public schools during Native American Heritage Month (November 2024). Worked with director of PSRC Indian Education to collaborate the program to share with young students about the importance of learning about Native American Heritage and also with my important platform “Paving the Way: A Legacy of Higher Education ''

Do the Project
10.00 hours leading an event | Respect
As a proud member of the Lumbee tribe,I deeply value our heritage and the remarkable achievements of our people, particularly in the realm of education. One of the key messages I share is "We are the Generation to make a Change." This statement encapsulates our determination to create positive transformation and upliftment for our people in the field of education. I focus on spreading how important higher education is to the Lumbee Tribe. I visited schools from the southeast of NC to the ocean to share my culture.

Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Respect
I want to thank everyone that listen to or allowed me to come to the schools to talk about my heritage. I was able to attend schools and organization in NC and even in Arizona. Something that I want to say is the following: I deeply value our heritage and the remarkable achievements of our people, particularly in the realm of education. It fills me with pride to know that my great-grandfather was a trailblazer and served as the first Native American President and Chancellor of a public university. He is indeed my role model and someone I aspire to emulate. My ancestors wanted to see education to be strengthen and I was honored to share those ideas to students and I thank everyone that come to listen to me and see my ideas on how to make higher education more important.
