SUMMARY
Reflection
Support In Style NC was born out of a lunch break conversation during the Governor’s Page Program and quickly became something meaningful. Working with other driven teens, we created a statewide women’s drive focused on providing women’s products and clothing to women in need across North Carolina. This experience taught me the power of collaboration, how quickly a good idea can turn into action, and how important it is to listen to the needs of your community. I gained confidence in leadership skills , project planning, and networking with local organizations/communities.
Project Impact
In just a couple months we had ambassadors in 6 counties of North Carolina. We grew an Instagram page to 93 followers and reached thousands of viewers through posts on our personal Instagram and Facebook pages. Although we did not count how many items were donated, we had multiple cars filled with 30+ bags of items.
PROJECTS TASKS

Page Week
10.00 hours participating in an awareness event | Connectedness
During my time at the North Carolina Governor’s Page Program, I gained hands-on experience with how our state government operates. I helped with a variety of administrative tasks, such as organizing and filing documents, while also learning from staff members across multiple departments. Throughout the week, we heard from representatives from several government agencies and toured important landmarks like the State Library, and the Governor’s Mansion. One of the highlights was connecting with other motivated students from across North Carolina who share my interest in public service. During a lunch break, a few of us came up with the idea for a statewide women’s clothing drive called Support In Style NC, which we hope to expand through future collaboration. The experience gave me a deeper appreciation for civic engagement, leadership, and the power of young people to make a difference.

Support In Style
15.00 hours leading a collection drive | Connectedness
Support In Style NC is a statewide women’s clothing drive I co-founded with fellow participants during the North Carolina Governor’s Page Program. We created the initiative to provide women’s products and clothing to women in need across the state. We partnered with our schools, churches, and community centers collect donations. The idea started as a casual conversation over lunch, but quickly turned into a meaningful project we’re passionate about growing. We are planning to do another state wide drive sometime in the fall!

Do the Project
6.00 hours leading a collection drive | Connectedness
After collecting all of the donations we all drove to Raleigh to meet at one of my peers house. We spent that time catching up with eachother, carrying bags, organizing clothing, and discussing how we should move forward with our donations. Afterwards, one of the Support In Style NC ambassadors drove the donations to The Women’s Center in Raleigh.

Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Connectedness
After completing our first drive ever we updating our social media page and congratulated eachother. After we all returned home we reflected on what we felt was successful/unsuccessful for our first drive. We are so grateful to have the resources to help those in need. We hope to host another drive in the fall and possibly expand to our demographics!
