The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) was established under the National Defense Act of 1916 and has since grown to become one of the largest character development and citizenship programs for youth in the world. 

JROTC at Central High School was established in 1995. Central High School's JROTC "Cobbler Battalion" is a cadet-ran organization that competes in co-curricular events and supports the school and community.
