    SUMMARY
    Reflection
Throughout this project, I increased my knowledge of tools I can use to support my growth as a leader, and I learned that I have a passion for helping others find self-assurance through emotion regulation. I led a team by denoting tasks that would help me complete this project promptly and was able to improve both my problem-solving and project-management skills. I felt my project's success only after I was able to prove I helped children find confidence in their ability to control their emotions.
    Project Impact
100% of teachers who responded to my survey stated that students are now able to identify what they are feeling and understand the strategies to regulate in a classroom-appropriate manner. 60% of teachers have reported that they can keep students in classrooms when they need to regulate their emotions. In previous years, each classroom had at least one disciplinary infraction, but only three classrooms where Calm Down Kits have been used for a month have had referrals to the administration.
    PROJECTS TASKS
    Page Week
10.00 hours participating in an awareness event | Curiosity
Through the Governors page program I had the opportunity to speak with many of our state governments department heads and was challenged to write up a policy proposal of my own. The four days I spent with the program allowed me to form relationships with many amazing people and receive helpful advice about planing my future!
    Project Planning
4.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
For my service project, I plan to expanded my gold award by gathering donations and putting together Calm Down Kits in all of the classrooms at Elon Elementary. Previously the kits, which serve to teach children emotional regulation and awareness, were only placed in 12 classrooms. Now, I have worked with and been encourage by the Student Success Team at Elon to create kits for all classrooms.
    Publicity
2.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
I used the social media platforms LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram to share my project goals, advertise for donations, and update its successes. Once completed, the project was published in Elon Elementary's newsletter and can now be found on the school's website.
    Do the Project
12.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
To expand Calm Down kits to all classrooms at Elon Elementary, I submitted my project to DonorsChoose and was granted the funds I needed to purchase materials and create more kits. I printed and laminated 25 more activity packets, purchased materials, assigned kits to each classroom, and passed them out to the remaining teachers. I also ensured they received the PowerPoint I created for classroom implementation training and proper use to maximize student success.
    Project Outcomes & Reflection
2.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
My project's success was confirmed by a survey I sent out to teachers and data points I collected to measure the number of disciplinary referrals to the office. The feedback I received stated that all teachers had been able to use their Calm Down Kits as needed and that kids were showing signs of self-awareness. The number of office referrals has decreased since prior years, which proves kids have learned the tools needed to support growth in confidence and control. There was even a counselor who visited Elon to take pictures of my kits and implement them in her elementary school! I feel gratification in knowing all students are now being taught the skills they need to become future leaders in their communities.
