North Carolina Governor's Page Service Project (25 hours)
Local Service, Global Impact
SKILLS DEVELOPED
Collaboration, Communication, Problem solving, Civic literacy and citizenship, Leadership
SUMMARY
Reflection
I learned to lead by example and integrity. This project truly emphasized an equal balance of effort and patience, showing critical it is to utilize both of those skills. From communicating with officials to the night-time filling out of paperwork, I am so glad I was able to install the two picnic tables at my local park with the assistance of my troop and city.
Project Impact
Work when you can. Rest when you can. #effort #support #communication

Project Planning
8.00 hours leading an initiative | Connectedness
I completed the planning for my Eagle Project, as I said I would use as part of my page service project. I plan to use the picnic tables and gravel pads as part of my project, as the rest of the project will likely carry into November as a longer, larger project.

Do the Project
2.00 hours leading an initiative | Integrity
Finally the day had come. After extensive planning and working with the city, I had got my full Eagle Project signed off and approval from the City of Hickory. For my Governor's Page Service Project, I will present to you the two new completed picnic tables at Civitan Park in Hickory. The frames were provided by the city, but with charitable donations from those around me (and a great discount from Lowe's Hardware) I bought the necessary lumber and hardware. I planned with my friends in my scout troop to find a suitable day to assemble the tables and install them, and here we are!

Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Curiosity
I learned a lot about public service throughout this small project. I had to learn how to communicate with peers and officials to pull this off. I also had to learn to be patient, and I learned a lot of getting this approved was simply waiting. I really am happy I was able to support my community in some sort of way, and I can't wait to finish my full Eagle Project and contribute more.
