SUMMARY
Reflection
Through this project, I have learned the importance of patience and adaptation through difficulties. While this may have seemed like a simple collection drive, there was much that did not go planned and had to quickly be adapted to. Lastly, I have learned to value compassion and understanding with others even when challenges arise.
Project Impact
Through the Union County Governor's School Supply Drive with State Employees Credit Union, local citizens were able to provide lower income schools with needed school supplies. In total, there were at least five hundred notebooks, packs of pens, folders, markers, and more dropped off for Union County Schools. Without the help of these donations, these students would not have had such an amazing start to the school year.
PROJECTS TASKS

Page Week
10.00 hours participating in an awareness event | Compassion
Met with various agency representatives and discussed policies. Toured various historical sites and government buildings to learn about the North Carolina State government. Additionally, networked with various officials and peers.

Project Planning
3.00 hours leading a collection drive | Connectedness
Worked with local SECU locations to coordinate pick-ups for school supply drive. Contacted the local school district to coordinate a drop-off time for the supplies. Eventually, after lackluster collections from the SECU branches, I collaborated with a local church to drop off school supplies as a great way to end the week. To do so, I reached out to various contacts in hopes of having a successful drive for Union County.

Publicity
1.00 hour leading a collection drive | Connectedness
I made sure to share news of the drop off with the local Instagram to promote on social media, and I hoped to share the news of the local supply drive.

Do the Project
10.00 hours leading a collection drive | Connectedness
Delivered school supplies to the local middle school, Porter Ridge Middle School, and helped distribute them inside. Collected these materials after the SECU misplaced some of them, and helped lead initiative for more school supplies. From this, I was able to bring a second round of donations to the school district that involved over 500 individual school supply items. For this activity, I worked to collect these supplies from local SECU's and a contact I have from a local church.

Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading a collection drive | Connectedness
Throughout this experience, it was interesting to troubleshoot and adapt to a changing environment. I took this role on and hoped there would be an abundance of materials, and there were not. I struggled to find materials between one branch collecting 0 and another giving my supplies to someone else. Truthfully, it required much adapting and using my knowledge and contacts in attempt to make this collection drive meaningful for the community. Overall, it was a success and I hope to have many more projects like this.
