SUMMARY
Reflection
I learned that organizing a drive like this required the support of the entire community to bring my vision to life in helping those affected by Hurricane Helen. My friend helped me organize the drive and spread the message throughout the school. Together, we went around to all the classes to make sure everyone was aware of this important initiative. My biggest takeaway from this experience is that leadership requires collaboration—having a community behind you helps turn a vision into reality. This experience showed me that when people step up to support a cause, it can inspire others to get involved and make a difference in their own communities as well.
Project Impact
The school supply drive supported Buncombe Early College during a challenging time. Thanks to our community's efforts, we gathered essential educational materials, easing the burden on students and staff affected by Hurricane Helen. This showcased the power of collective action and inspired further community engagement.

2.00 hours leading an initiative | Integrity
I met with my counselor Ms.Davis to discuss the impact that Hurricane Helen had on East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. This hit close to home for her because her family still lives there and was going on their third day without power. I then introduced the idea of organizing a drive to support them during the National Honor Society meeting. My counselor, Ms. Davis, suggested the idea of holding a school supply drive to support the Early College of Buncombe County.

Project Outcomes & Reflection

The supply drive, which ended on October 28, was successful in supporting Buncombe Early College during their time of uncertainty. It is hoped that this support will help relieve the burden of lacking educational materials during their transitional period.
