SUMMARY
Reflection
Connecting with all the other pages during Governor's Page truly inspired me to continue to be so active in my community. Knowing that there were other youth, my age just as committed really lit a spark. Through the Revitializing Blannahassett Island Project I was able to give back to a space that I grew up loving. Altogether, the journey from Page to the continued endeavors of this project have made a profound impact on me.
Project Impact
This project's impact is both environmental and cultural as far as my community goes. Many people have grown up playing on Blannahassett Island and through this project we've helped to take steps to getting it back to what it was before Helene. Myself and other youth have worked a total of 16 hours or 4 service days so far; collected 20 bags of invasive plants and removed 19 wheelbarrows of debris from sections of the Island. We plan to continue this project and assisst with laying down straw and native grass seeds over the next few months.
PROJECTS TASKS

Page Week
10.00 hours participating in an awareness event | Connectedness
During Page week we learned about our State governement, assited different branches with tasks, and connected with other like minded pages.

Project Planning
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Curiosity
The teen-led organization I founded Teens of Madison County met with local organization Mountain Valleys RC&D to learn the ropes for becoming stewards of an Island Park that was completely destroyed during Hurricane Helene and planned service days.

Revitilizing Blannahassat Island
4.00 hours leading an initiative | Connectedness
After Hurricane Helene in my hometown of Marshall a beloved park that was situated on an island named Blannahasset Island was completely destroyed and the land restructured. Myself and other teens have partnered with local organization Mountain Valleys RC&D to revitialize this park, and have been named "stewards of the Island". We have been removing rock debris, pulling invasive plants and will son begin work laying down seeds to grow native grass.

Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Connectedness
We have held 4 service days and worked a total of 16 hours removing invasive plants and helping to revitialize this community space so far. We will continue to partner with this organization to work on this project and hope to help bring Blannahassett Island back to life. It was such an amazing experience to be able to lead a project that really means something to my local community and it's something I will hold very near to my heart for the rest of my life.
