Annual training program for youth (13-18 years old) volunteers. Learn all about healthcare facilities (w/emphasis on rehab/long-term care), what constitutes a positive visit, etc. In addition to hearing from medical, social, activities and other professionals, touring a state-of-the-art facility & practical dramatic exercises are also integral parts of the training. While there is no fee for this program, all those who register must show – – as food is ordered and materials purchased for all attendees.
Since its inception in 2007, more than 400 youth (of diverse faiths, schools, clubs, etc.) have participated in at least one LHSVS program. LHSVS alumni have successfully pursued such careers as medicine, physical therapy, nursing, social work, business, law and accounting. Full credit has always been given by Innerview and other community service programs. Snacks (throughout the day) and a light pizza & salad dinner (at conclusion of training session) provided to volunteers.
Special needs youth are warmly welcome to volunteer.
