  • Help People Find the Food Assistance They Need!

At WhyHunger, we believe that nutritious food is a human right. One of our crucial functions as an organization is to provide the Find Food database and answer the Hunger Hotline. The WhyHunger Find Food Database is the most comprehensive database in the country, designed to improve access to nutritious food in low-income communities. We provide information in both English and Spanish on local food pantries, soup kitchens, senior food box sites, and more for people experiencing hunger so that they will be able to access food immediately.

As food resources are constantly changing, now more than ever, maintenance of the database requires a team of volunteers personally invested in ensuring food access for people experiencing hunger. Volunteers can verify sites from the comfort of their own homes, on their own schedule - all you need is access to the internet and a cell phone. You will make phone calls to organizations to see if they are still operating, verify their hours, location and contact details.

NOTE: for best results, call during normal business hours in the time zone that you're calling (ie. 9am to 5pm)

Help children, seniors, veterans, working families, people displaced by natural disasters, and people with disabilities and chronic illnesses access food today!
