The Village of Hawthorn Woods hosts a variety of community special events throughout the year to build togetherness and engage our neighbors.
The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is a free event where we celebrate the start of the holiday season by lighting our community tree to the sounds of the Stevenson High School Choir. Santa arrives by fire truck and visits with the children to see what is on their gift lists this year. Cookies and cocoa are served while we enjoy Christmas music and families can make a craft together.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the craft, handing out cookies and cocoa, and assist with Santa’s line. We are looking for 10-15 volunteers who are 14 years of age or older. The event begins at 6pm. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 5:30pm for a brief introduction.
